The Tour of Britain cycle race is coming through Upper Burnham on Friday 08 September.

Looping around the Essex countryside, the second day of the Tour of Britain’s eastern doubleheader is a spectator-friendly stage between Southend-on-Sea and Harlow, offering fans the opportunity to catch the peloton at multiple locations.

It leaves Southend at 11.45, the starting point near the historic pier on the Western Esplanade.

At around 1.12 pm, some 50 km later, it will reach Burnham, haring down Maldon Road and turning left onto Church Road by the plane tree, past Ormiston Rivers Academy, and on towards Southminster, Asheldham, Dengie, Tillingham and Bradwell before heading west through Steeple, Mayland, Latchingdon, Cold Norton, Mundon and Purleigh.

It then continues west towards Harlow. Stage six finishes on Third Avenue, where Lorena Wiebes triumphed on day two of last year’s Women’s Tour.
