The Council Chamber is where local democracy is enacted.

Up to 10 councillors meet at least once a month for council meetings, to which the public is invited. Four councillors are needed to make the meeting quorate – i.e., that there are sufficient numbers of council members (a quorum) to make decisions.

The councillors also meet regularly to consider Planning applications, and, in smaller groups, for committees, working groups and local volunteer groups.

The Chamber has records of the history of the Burnham Town Council and its predecessor, the Burnham on Crouch Urban District Council.
