All 31 seats which make up Maldon District Council, together with all seats on each Parish/Town Council within the Maldon administrative area will be up for election in May.

The Returning Officer for the Maldon District is Ms Emma Foy, and is responsible for the conduct of these elections, as well as being the Electoral Registration Officer, whose responsibility it is to register electors and ensure everyone who is entitled to vote can do so.

Current Councillors remain in post until they officially retire on 6 May 2019, when the new Council will take office.

Existing Councillors wishing to continue as a Councillor will need to seek re-election.

Nominations for both District and Parish Councils must be delivered by hand between 9.30am and 4pm on any working day, from Monday, 18 March 2019, to the Returning Officer, or a member of her staff, at Meet and Greet, Maldon District Council, Princes Road, Maldon, Essex CM9 5DL, by no later than 4pm, on Wednesday 3 April 2019.

Two briefings have been arranged for prospective candidates and their agents, to which they will be welcome to attend, as follows;

  • Tuesday, 26 February 2019 at 6pm – Maldon District Council, Northey Room
  • Friday, 1 March 2019 at 3pm – Maldon District Council, Council Chamber
