Maldon District Council Announces Completion of Riverside Park Skatepark

Maldon District Council is delighted to announce the completion of the replacement skatepark at Riverside Park in Burnham-on-Crouch. This exciting new facility, which is part of the Council’s Section 106 Youth Facilities Programme and was constructed by Bendcrete Skateparks Ltd, is set to become a vibrant hub for local skateboarders and the wider community.

To celebrate the completion of this project, the Council has organised an official opening event on Thursday 29th May. The event will feature a series of free beginner skateboarding sessions led by Team Rubicon, a renowned skateboarding provider. The sessions will run from 10am to 12pm, 1pm to 3pm, and a special session aimed at encouraging female skaters into the sport from 3pm to 4pm.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the new skatepark, stating, “We are thrilled to see the completion of the Riverside Park skatepark. This project represents a significant investment in our community, providing a fantastic new facility for our young people and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the official opening event and seeing the skatepark become a popular destination for skaters of all ages and abilities.”

The new skatepark is part of a district-wide initiative that has seen the construction of a brand-new skatepark at West Maldon Community Centre, as well as a complete overhaul and upgrade of the skatepark at Promenade Park in Maldon later this year.

The new Riverside Park Skatepark is designed to cater to skateboarders of all skill levels, offering a range of features and obstacles to challenge and inspire. The Council is committed to supporting the local community and providing high-quality recreational facilities that enhance the quality of life for residents.

The event will be promoted on the Council’s social media channels ahead of the event.
