Burnham Primary’s School Council at BTC’s Council Chambers

On June 20th, BTC were delighted to host Burnham Primary’s School Council, who visited the chamber and held a debate about their ideas for the town. They came up with some great ideas about ways in which we can involve and engage more young people in activities in Burnham. Councillors promised to follow up their ideas.

It was inspiring all round to see how these youngsters loved being in the chamber, discussing issues, and how very polite and grown up they were. Thanks to their teachers, Mrs Jeanette Evans and Miss Jody Cole, who helped make the event happen. They said : “The school council members couldn’t stop talking about it on the way home”.
BTC Councillors definitely saw a few emerging leaders and politicians!

In the future, we would love to see St Mary’s Primary school and Ormiston Rivers Academy bring their pupils to engage in a debate in the Town’s Council Chambers.
